How to permanently delete your HWIH account and personal data.

You can delete your account directly from the HWIH app on either iOS or Android. If you can't access the app (for example, you forgot your password and can't reset it), you can also request deletion by email.
Option 1 — Delete from inside the app (recommended)
The fastest way to delete your account is from your phone. The same path works on iPhone (iOS) and Android.
- Open the HWIH app and sign in.
- Tap the Profile tab at the bottom of the screen.
- Open Settings from the Profile screen.
- Scroll to the Account section and tap Delete Account.
- Read the warning carefully and confirm. Your account will be deactivated immediately and you will be signed out.
Tip: If you have a problem signing in, try Sign In → Forgot password first. If that still doesn't work, use Option 2 below.
Option 2 — Request deletion by email
If you can't access the app or sign in, send us an email and we'll delete your account for you. So we can verify the request, please email us from the same email address you used to sign up.

Please include:
- The email address used on the account
- The name on the account
- The phone number on the account, if you provided one
We respond to deletion requests within 5 business days. We may ask you to confirm a single piece of information (such as the date you joined or the city associated with your address) to make sure no one else is requesting deletion on your behalf.
What happens when you delete your account
We use a two-step deletion process so that other users aren't left with broken references to past meals or messages.
Step 1 — Immediately
- You are signed out on every device.
- Your name is replaced with “Deleted User” everywhere it appears.
- Your profile picture, bio, phone number, address, location, and notification tokens are erased.
- Your email is detached from the account so you can re-register with it later if you want to.
Step 2 — Within 30 days
- The remaining account record is fully removed from our active systems.
- Backups containing references to your account are rotated out as part of our normal backup retention cycle.
What may remain
- Meals, claims, messages, and comments you posted may remain visible to other participants of those interactions, attributed to “Deleted User.” This preserves the integrity of conversations and meal histories for everyone else involved.
- Anonymized or aggregated information that does not identify you may be retained for analytics, fraud prevention, and product improvement.
- Information we are legally required to keep (for example, records related to a fraud or safety investigation) may be retained for as long as the law requires.
Frequently asked questions
Can I just sign out instead?
Yes. Signing out keeps your account so you can come back later. Account deletion is permanent — we can't restore a deleted account.
Can I delete just some of my data instead of my whole account?
Yes. Inside the app you can delete individual meals you posted, messages you sent, and content you created. If you want help with a specific deletion, email support@hwihapp.com.
Will my friends and groups be notified?
No. We don't send a notification when you delete your account. Your name will simply appear as “Deleted User” in any prior conversations or meal histories.
Does deleting the app from my phone delete my account?
No. Removing the app from your phone does not delete your account on our servers. Use Option 1 or Option 2 above to actually delete the account.
