Tap the 'Create Meal' button in the app, add photos and details about your meal, set pickup times and location, then choose which groups to share with. Your neighbors will receive notifications about your shared meal.
How do I claim a meal?
Browse the home feed to see available meals, tap on one you're interested in, and click 'Claim' to reserve a serving. You'll see pickup details and can message the cook if needed.

You can share any home-cooked meals, baked goods, or fresh produce. Please ensure food is safe, properly prepared, and clearly labeled with ingredients for people with allergies.
How do pickup and delivery work?
Most meals are pickup-only from the cook's location. Some users may offer delivery within their neighborhood. All details are specified when the meal is posted.
Groups & Community
How do groups work?
Groups are communities of people who share meals with each other. You can join apartment buildings, neighborhoods, workplaces, or friend groups. Meals shared with a group are only visible to group members.

In your group settings, tap 'Invite Members' and enter their email addresses or phone numbers. They'll receive an invitation to join HWIH and your group.
Notifications & SMS
What SMS notifications will I receive?
SMS messages are primarily used to invite people who aren't on HWIH yetβsuch as friend invitations or group invitations sent to non-users. Once you're using the app, you'll receive notifications through push notifications on your device instead of SMS. You may still receive occasional important account updates via SMS.
How do notifications work in the app?
HWIH users receive push notifications on their phone for meal alerts, group activity, friend requests, and messages. These appear as notifications on your device and can be managed in your phone's settings or in the app under Profile β Notification Settings.
How do I turn off SMS notifications?
You can disable SMS notifications in the app under Profile β Notification Settings, or reply STOP to any SMS message from HWIH.
Will SMS notifications cost me money?
HWIH doesn't charge for SMS messages, but standard message and data rates from your mobile carrier may apply. Push notifications (used for app users) do not incur messaging charges.
Safety & Guidelines
Is food sharing safe?
HWIH connects trusted community members, but food safety is everyone's responsibility. Only share and accept food from people you trust, check ingredients for allergies, and use common sense about food safety.
What are the community guidelines?
Be respectful, honest about ingredients and dietary restrictions, maintain food safety standards, and communicate clearly about pickup times and locations. No commercial food sales are allowed.
